Goals, not Resolutions

Hey, friends! It’s been so long since my last post, but the holiday season kept me super busy, and I was battling a drawn out cold as well. With my inspiration and momentum levels super high right now (likely do to a new year, fresh start mindset), I hope to be posting regularly.

I want to start my first post of 2019 off by talking about goals and resolutions. I used to be one to make a resolution at the beginning of each year, but never kept it for very long. I think in my mind, resolutions are sort of “all or nothing” and are like a giant step. Once I fail at any resolution I set, I usually do not start it again. Goals are different. I can make smaller ones to work towards and take baby steps. If I fail at a goal, I just pick myself up and start again.

This year, I have 3 goals for myself.

  1. Lose weight for my December 7th wedding. I’ve been doing Weight Watchers since November and have lost almost 10 pounds so far. I would have lost more, but with the holidays, it was hard sometimes to resist all the treats. I’ve also been walking a few laps around the block each morning with Chris and again at night. I aim is to get in at least 20-30 minutes of active minutes on my FitBit. I don’t have a specific number of pounds I want to lose, but I know I will be at the right weight when I feel good about myself.
  2. Read 12 books this year. I have a Goodreads account and a long list of books I’d like to read. I’m currently reading A Dog’s Way Home (and saw the movie last weekend, super adorable), and plan on finishing it before the end of January.
  3. Focus on my blog and social media accounts consistently for Authentically Candace. I’d like to grow my brand and become a micro-influencer this year. I’m already halfway there!

I don’t want to overwhelm myself with too many things on my plate, thus why I only chose 3 things to work on this year. Planning my wedding in 12 months is already taking up a good chunk of my time, so I think these other goals will help relax me.

What are your goals for 2019?
